Hey Everyone, I was accepted to to Cal Poly SLO (Business Administration), University of British Columbia(Faculty of Arts), Chapman(Business Administration), SDSU (Pre-Business). I hope you can answer a few questions for me: 1. How would you describe the area surrounding SDSU, I've only been to UCSD and never gone further inland towards SDSU's direction. I was not able to visit campus due to living across the world. 2. Networking opportunities: Does SDSU have a strong business network? are there any internship/job seeking advantages if I go to SDSU? 3. International presence: Do you think that SDSU have some international presence? since there is a high possibility that I am going to Asia after graduation. I only have a few days left to make my decision, Thanks for answer my questions!

SAT reporting error, potential retraction of admission?

Hello! I've been admitted into SDSU for Nursing and when I logged on to the WebPortal and looked at my reported test scores under "Required for Admission" I found something wrong. It said I had taken the SAT 5 times, it had received 3 scores, and 2 "Self Reported Scores Received, Official Scores Required", however, I have only taken the SAT 3 times, so I am afraid I made a mistake on my initial CSU application somewhere. SAT 1200 May 2015 Ok Official Scores Received SAT 1200 Jun 2015 Needed Required - Self Reported Scores Received, Official Scores Required SAT 1230 Sep 2015 Needed Required - Self Reported Scores Received, Official Scores Required SAT 1230 Oct 2015 Ok Official Scores Received SAT 1310 Dec 2015 Ok Official Scores Received The "missing" scores (tests I never took) seem to just be duplicate scores from other SAT tests I took, but I am still afraid of my admission offer being revoked if I don't send in all necessary materials. I plan to call admissions office when they open again on Monday, and I already sent an email to admissions 3 days ago with no reply. If I were to email them again, is there a certain format or title I should send them so they make sure to read/reply? Thank you!

SDSU Graduation Section 4 Requirements

The last requirement to get my CSU General Education certificate at my community college is a course in Communications. However, I see on the SDSU Graduation Requirements that the CSU General Ed and IGETC certification are seen as the same (?) and with either of those certifications, you would still need to complete section 4 of SDSU's graduation requirement. "If you fall into one of the following four categories, you must complete only Section IV, Explorations, to satisfy your General Education requirements: 1. You transferred from a California community college and have completed the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), or 2. You transferred from a California community college and are certified as having completed the 39 unit lower division CSU General Education pattern (Sections I, II, and III)," I actually have already completed and earned my IGETC certification so is it unnecessary to take the last communications class if the IGETC will be "worth" the same as the general education certification?

Political Science Degree Requirements??

Hello all. I am a senior at a dual college high school. I've completed all of my general ed courses while in high school so when I go to SDSU, I only need to take the major requirements which turns out to be around 30 units(depending on certain classes I decide to take). However, to graduate, I am aware that you need at a minimum 120 units. I have 60 that will transfer from my current community college and plus the 30 for my major, that leaves another 30 free units. Are these unit supposed to be used on elective courses in your major or can they be used for any courses? If they can be used for any courses, would it then be possible to double major or minor then and still graduate in two years? Because the way I look at it now, I would be able to graduate in one year except for the 120 unit requirement. So then during that extra year (~30 credits) I can use those units to major in something else? Or am I forgetting something here...

I have a 2.7 gpa and amazingly got into state for mechanical engineering (probably because I took all the classes that correlate in assit.org except these 2) My last classes will probably be a B and C for a 2.5. Do you think I will get rescinded?

SDSU Appeal - Advice Wanted!

Hi all! I was denied admission as a transfer for the Fall 2016 term, and am appealing now. Background info: I graduated HS in 2015 with lots of AP credit, and was admitted as a freshman applicant to SDSU. I chose community college because of financial reasons. Because of my AP credit I only needed 2 semesters of CC before I could receive my AA-T in Communications. I applied to SDSU in the middle of my first semester at college with a 0.0 GPA (as it was my first semester I had no GPA to report). I then updated it to a 3.3 in spring on the supplemental. I am non-local but am in-state (located in Northern CA). After receiving my rejection I decided to appeal based on: - They did not consider my test scores (ACT-31 composite, SAT-1980 out of 2400) Which respectively were in the 93rd and 92nd percentiles. There wasn't a spot on the transfer application to report these scores that I saw. - My reported GPA only reported my first semester, during which I was taking 20 units - My grandfather, who I am close to, had a serious decline in health during the semester. This was stressful and I missed some school to visit him with my family. - My AP scores account for nearly half of the credit towards my degree and they did not see them (5's on Spanish Lang+Culture and U.S Gov, 4's on English Lang and English Lit., 3's on US History, Bio, and Calc. AB) I have sent official scores for my ACT, SAT, and AP scores since, to be considered with my appeal, in addition to an official transcript from my CC. My letter reads as follows: Dear Admissions Committee, I am writing in hopes to appeal my rejection for the Fall 2016 term. My initial application did not accurately reflect my qualifications to attend SDSU. One of my proudest moments happened my senior year of high school, in 2015 . I was admitted to San Diego State as a freshman applicant, my dream school. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, I instead chose to attend my local community college, with hopes of applying to SDSU as a transfer as soon as possible. That moment came for me after just one semester at My Community College. I meticulously planned my courses for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters, so that when combined with the 22 units I earned through AP Credit in high school, I could graduate with my A.A. for transfer in Communications. However, the time to apply came in the middle of my first semester at college, consequently on my initial application I reported a 0.0 GPA. Though the supplemental application allowed me to update this information in the spring, my final reported GPA (3.30) nonetheless accounted for only one semester. Additionally, I had a large course load of 20 semester units. I take complete responsibility for my GPA in this semester, and regret not being able to perform better. Various obstacles inhibited my ability to perform my best, and though ultimately my performance in school is my responsibility, I feel the committee should be aware of them. During the Fall 2015 semester, my grandfather on my mother’s side began seeing a serious decline in health due to Alzheimer’s. The stress of this, the school I missed in order to go visit him with my family, the inherent difficulties associated with moving from high school to college , and the fact that I was taking 20 semester units at once all prevented me from receiving better marks. Since that semester, I have better learned how to balance personal stresses and school and am doing much better this Spring semester. The repercussions of that semester ended up being far reaching because as a transfer applicant, there was not a clear option for me to submit test scores for consideration. As I feel that my ACT (a composite score of 31) and SAT (a score of 1980) scores better reflect my successes and potential as a student, I have sent official score reports from both tests to the school. These scores respectively placed me in the 93rd and 92nd percentiles. Additionally, I have sent my official AP scores to SDSU (two 5’s, two 4’s and three 3’s), for which I was granted the AP Scholar with Distinction award. As per the directions for appealing an admissions decision, an official transcript from My Community College has also been sent, which should also verify the classes in which I am currently enrolled. For me, SDSU is the perfect school. Not just because of its high academic regard, or beautiful location- though those are definitely factors. But more so because of the opportunities I know it will afford me, and the ties I have to it . Both of my paternal grandparents attended SDSU when they were young, and spoke fondly of their memories there. From my childhood to sparked my desire to attend. Then, my grandfather passed away in 2012 from complications related to his Alzheimer’s. I have always viewed SDSU as a way that I could stay connected to him. Additionally, my maternal grandparents live San Diego, and as I previously mentioned, my grandfather on this side suffers from Alzheimer’s. This makes being as close to them as possible is a priority for me. I can easily see a future for myself at SDSU, and hold no other university higher in my personal regard. In short, I ask the committee to re-evaluate my admission decision in light of the circumstances surrounding my initial application and the supplemental scores I provided. Thank you, My Name I would love some advice on how I can improve my letter, and any additional info I should provide to them! Thanks a bunch :)

SDSU Intent to Register

As the deadline for the SIR is approaching, I have a few questions. First, I sent in my transcript through mail about a week ago, but my portal has a red x by it and says it hasn't been received. Since the deadline to send in transcripts are May 1st, and they didn't receive it yet, is there a possibility of my admissions being revoked? Second, on the line that says Intent to Register, there is a green check mark and says that I did pay, however the status details says documents not complete. I am not sure what they are referring to when they say documents not complete, because I'm sure I completed everything. Will not completing the aforementioned documents lead to a rescindment letter? Does the green check mean I'm good? Please help, there isn't much time left. Thank you!

I'm a junior from Los Angeles county area My overall CSU GPA is 3.89 Sophomore year - Honors Biology and Honors English for both classes (A's both semesters) Junior year - AP Psychology and APUSH (A's both semesters) Senior year - Honors English, AP Computer Science, maybe AP Stats, maybe AP Government My ACT score is 26. I'm hoping I can retake it and get a better score. Also, I was thinking of Cal Poly SLO and CSULB. Hopefully you guys can chance me for those too (but I'll ask on those sections also). Thanks a lot! (Also, is it worth taking a math during senior year? I want to be a biology major, so I might not take a math next year)

Could someone give me some insight of what dorms host each residential learning communities? I would preferably want to be in the business learning community, but not if I have to live in Maya/Olmeca and give up a suite style living. I would LOVE to be in a suite style room in Cuicacalli, so what learning communities are in that dorm?

I am applying for housing but I noticed that it gives me the option to decide if I want to stay at a 9-month or a 11.5-month upper division apartment. Is the 11.5 month option planned for those that want to stay for summer school in the future? Thank you.

Hi guys, I recently applied to SDSU for this fall 2016, and was told first by sdsu that they never received my ADT verification, we checked at miramar office and no one knew why I wasn't on the list. So they I had file an appeal and dropped it off at office of admission last week along with the ADT verification. Then I got a email from miramar college stating that the actual reason why I got denied was because I SOMEHOW didn't check "ADT" on my application. I am transfering in as Business Admin General, which has priority through ADT program, what are the appeal success rates with incidents like this? thanks!

Daughter working on roommate selection thru SDSU website - does anyone know how this works as instructions seem non-existent? If she makes request for roommate that's been selected for her and they accept, is that it and they are matched or does she have opportunity to make several matches and ultimately select one? Can you make several matches? Help please.

Will my application be rescinded?

I applied to SDSU as a transfer student and got in. On my supplemental application, I told them that I would be taking three courses: accounting 1, accounting 2, and a speech class. After submitting my supplemental application, I decided to apply to USC and LMU as well, but found out that they required Calculus 1. SDSU also requires Calc 1, but I got in without taking the course. I decided to enroll in the math class but because I am working close to full time and taking 13 other units, I have to drop the class. I had already sent SDSU a transcript showing that Calc 1 was in progress, but when I submit my final transcript, it will show as a withdrawal. Even though I was admitted without them knowing that I would take this calc 1 class (it was not on my supplemental application), will my admission be rescinded for dropping the class? Thank you!

hi everyone! so originally out of the schools i applied to i had only visited UCSB and UCLA before applying. UCSB was my dream school and i was crushed when i found out i was waitlisted. But since then, I visited SDSU and also fell in love with that campus. i SIRed to SDSU, but yesterday found out i was pulled off the UCSB waitlist. now i am SO confused and don't know where to go. i know it is my decision but i was wondering if anyone has any insights. i am currently down as a theater(playwriting) major at UCSB, and a film, television, and new media major at SDSU. my goal is to become a comedy screenwriter. does anyone know about those programs or opportunities in the area and on campus. Thanks so much!
