HOUSING!

Hi guys, I'm headed to SDSU in the fall and I'm curious about housing. I want to live in the best possible dorm, so I'm planning on submitting the housing app ASAP. I will be majoring in political science with a possible minor in history and/or business, am very interested in joining the Honors College later on, and consider myself a studious yet outgoing person. I am also looking into Greek life. I love to party, but that's not what college is all about for me. I want to challenge myself socially and intellectually at SDSU and would like to implement the uber cliche work hard/play hard modus operandi into my life. That being said, which dorm(s) combine an awesome social experience, a clean and relatively nice atmosphere, decent living standards, and are the most convenient? Money is absolutely not a factor, as I am in-state. Thank you!

Just wondering if local high school applicants get priority at SDSU? It doesn't say anything about it on the website but it does on the CSU website. Or is it priority only for local community college applicants? Thanks

Political viewpoints at SDSU

This seems really weird, but it kind of matters to me. I am in the minority- I am quite conservative for an average high schooler in California and I am open to liberal ideas, but is social justice/being a liberal a big theme here at SDSU? For a school that is within 50 miles from the US-Mexico border and being in California, I am sure that the majority of students would identify as liberal, but do students make it a theme/point to be liberal?

SDSU Transfer

Denied :'( Major: History AA-T: Yes GPA: 3.49 NOT LOCAL (from Irvine Valley College, Orange County) Major Prep: Yes Golden 4: Yes (2 A's, 1 B, 1 C) Other Schools: CSULB (Accepted), CSUF (Accepted), CSULA (Accepted), CSUSM (Accepted), UCSB (Pending), UCI (Pending), UCLA (Pending), UCSD (Pending), SDSU (Denied). I knew I had a slim to no chance of getting accepted given that I was not local. About the appeal process, I had no sort of extenuating circumstance. Is there any chance I can still attend SDSU? This is my dream school and I won't give up on trying even if it means attending a CC (Community College) in San Diego and apply in Fall '17. Talking about CC's, will I be admitted if I do attend a CC in San Diego and then transfer to SDSU? Will I have to complete a new and different AAT degree different from my AAT degree I have in History? Please any help will be greatly appreciated. PS Congrats for those who got admitted, especially out of local admits. :)

SDSU impacted majors

I read all majors at SDSU are now impacted. Realistically, how long can it take for a Business major to graduate? Am thinking may be better to go to a private school and get out in 4 yrs. Also, any feedback on SDSU as the "party" college? Thank you in advance!

SDSU freshman appeal fall 2016

Hi guys! I was rejected from SDSU in late February. I appealed their decision and I called on April 8th and was told that the appeal had been received by SDSU. I've taken only college classes since the beginning of my Junior year in high school at a local CC. I'm an liberal arts major, so I'm not competing with my lovely STEM friends for a spot in their program. On my appeal, I stated I was the victim of a horrible crime that made it impossible for me to take the ACT for a better score and still be considered for Fall 2016 admission(they only take ACT scores up to a certain date, i think December?). I was wondering if any of you could help me and tell me more about the process and if it's any different for a freshman applicant than it is for a transfer?(all the discussions on appeals seem to be focused more on transfer students). Also, does anyone know how many appeals they accept each year, if they set aside a certain number of spots for those wishing to appeal, or if they even necessarily take ANY students who appeal?? ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROCESS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. GPA: 3.6 ACT: 21 (i know, it sucks)

Can't find much information about SDSU music program.

My daughter applied to some top tier music programs and got into all that she auditioned for. She also applied to SDSU at at my insistence an was also admitted there. I love visiting San Diego and would be able to see her perform there, so I want her to consider it seriously, but when she compares it to Berklee and Miami she starts complaining about it's ranking and industry success. Even with some substantial scholarships at the private schools SDSU would cost almost half of the others, and is something we could actually afford. If anyone has some input which I could use in my discussions with her I would greatly appreciate it.

Transcript Due Date?

Hi there, I recently submitted my Intent to Enroll for SDSU and ordered my transcripts and AP Test Scores to be sent. It was the first week in April, I believe around April 5th, when I sent my transcripts from my high school and I know my AP Scores were sent out on the 8th. They still haven't gone through according to my portal, though, and I'm starting to get a bit worried. I'm more worried about my transcripts than my AP scores because it says that they need to be in before May 1st or else my admission could be revoked. So I was wondering if I should start worrying or if you think it will be fine. Does it have to actually be in or just post marked by the 1st? I already called SDSU to ask them, but they were rather apathetic about it and just told me that it can take few weeks for them to arrive and be put in the system and that they should be in on time. Any information or past experiences would be great so I could stress less. Thanks!

SDSU v/s SUNY Stony Brook v/s Suffolk

I am trying to decide between these three universities. I've applied undecided to all three, but I see myself probably picking a major from the college of arts and sciences (leaning more towards a double major in performing arts and psychology). I'm kind of shy and I definitely take my time to open up, which is why I need the school to be friendly. I've lived all my life in a big city, so an urban/suburban setting is preferred. Really confused as to which one out of these three should I pick. Any help would be appreciated! International student from Mumbai, India.

Transcripts From Different High Schools?

Hello, I went to two different high schools over the course of my four years, and I'm wondering if I have to submit transcripts from both schools to SDSU? They're due May 1st so I need to do it soon if that is the case, but my current school told me I would not need to. I ordered my official transcripts to be sent from my current school to SDSU, however, and on my webportal it now says "Incomplete Transcript Received, Official Transcript Required." I'm not sure if this means that my high school sent an unofficial transcript to SDSU or if they need one from my former high school. I plan on calling tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. Thank you.

Hi, All! I just read an informative article about a new SDSU student organization. The group is for community college transfers. I don't know anything about the group except what is written in the article, but thought I would post it here just in case anyone is interested. http://newscenter.sdsu.edu/sdsu_newscenter/news_story.aspx?sid=76140

I am a junior and will be a senior next year. My overall gpa is a 4.08. I was captain of the tennis team this year and have played for 3 years. I am involved in key club, FBLA, and I volunteer at the hospital and library. My sat is a 1000/1600. And for my senior year I signed up for 4 ap classes and 2 non ap leaving me with a full schedule. I would like to know if this is good enough for getting into SDSU??? Please comment what you think.
